The prodigal son doubted the grace, but he never doubted the space. He knew there was room in his father’s house. When Home Church launched on September 12, 2021, it was built around that story. I was once a prodigal, and I want to pastor a church that is a front porch for prodigals like me. A place that carries the same grace of God I experienced. A place where people can encounter Christ every Sunday.
God has been unbelievably faithful. Three packed services. Every square inch of the building renovated and repurposed to make room for as many people as possible. All 100% debt free. It has truly been a miracle.
But here is what I cannot shake. For every prodigal we have had the opportunity to welcome home, there are still more out there. And you know what is on the Father’s heart? The one who is still out there. We are adding a worship center that will hold up to 1,100 people, offering two services that's 2,200 seats for adults, not counting the additional classroom space for kids that will accommodate! That opens up 1,120 more seats per weekend than we currently have. Until we open those doors, I can't help but feel like we are saying "not yet" to 1,120 sons and daughters every single weekend. Every one of those seats represents a person the Father is waiting to run toward. In the story, the son never wondered if there would be a seat at the table. He had a confident assurance that there would be room. There should always be room for people to come Home.
So we're Extending the Table to welcome all the prodigals who are ready to come Home!
