DAY SIX: OUR NATION + ITS LEADERS
Devotion: Although God has had His heart broken by humanity many times, He has never scratched His head wondering what would happen next. We live in a fallen world full of corrupt people, and we have been placed on earth during a time period that celebrates sin like no other generation before us. Yet, as believers in Jesus, we are not from this world. This world is not our home; we are simply passing through. During our stay, God doesn’t request but requires our submission and honor towards ALL authority, good or evil. All authority is from God, but not all authority is Godly. The pressures that come in high offices are only known by a handful of people throughout time. How would our attitude towards those we don’t agree with change if we prayed for leaders more than we complain about them? The Bible reminds us to “consider ourselves lest we be tempted.”
Reflection: How can I pray for the leadership of our nation today?
Prayer: God, I pray that our country would return to being “one nation under God.” I pray for the leaders that I agree with, and I pray for leaders I don’t agree with. I pray for their character, their health, and their families.
