DAY FOUR: MY FAMILY
Devotion: Throughout Scripture, God refers to Himself as The God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. This is to show that He is generationally minded. His desire is for us to pass on more than property or a monetary inheritance to those who follow us. His heart is that we would leave a spiritual inheritance that lasts until the coming of His Son, Jesus. Proverbs 13:22 says, “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children…” Thus, leaving a spiritual inheritance is a command from God and must be a commitment of ours. Let’s not focus on meaningless “things” to leave behind. Commit to leaving a burning passion for Jesus to our family, children, and those around us. What one generation tolerates the next generation will embrace.
Reflection: What kind of inheritance am I leaving with the lifestyle I’m living?
Prayer: Father, teach me to live with a generational mindset. The grass withers and the flower fades, but Your Word lasts forever. Help me commit to leaving a passion and hunger for Jesus behind when I come into Your Kingdom. I will focus on legacy rather than dynasty. Help me deposit God-sized investments in those around me that will last eternally.
